“One of the highlights of Sale town centre’s Christmas activities is the Art Competition for local schoolchildren.

This is always very popular and gives local Sale businesses an opportunity to support and showcase the artistic talents of our local young people.

This year’s competition was to design a Christmas poster which could help brighten up some empty shop windows.

Chris Stout, the Chair of the Sale Town Partnership said, “We are always amazed by the imagination and creative talents of the entrants and this year was no different - the quality and talent was simply outstanding and our judges had a great deal of difficulty picking winners from all the exceptional entries. We hope that you will take the opportunity to visit Sale town centre to admire the results from our young artists and support your local businesses.”

A total of 12 Sale schools entered the competition and local businesses Marks & Spencer, Minikin, Waterside Arts Centre and Wilkinson very generously provided the competition prizes.

Living near to the canal was the inspiration behind the overall winning design done by Daisy, aged 9. “Every year, we watch the canal boats all decorated for the Christmas Switch On bringing Santa to Sale so I thought it would be really good to do a canal Christmas poster.”

This year’s record number of entries will be on display in the vacant Bernardo’s and Ruillion units at The Square Shopping Centre, alongside photos from the Sale Christmas Lights Switch On event. All the winners’ posters for each age group will be at Sale Waterside till early January”

Thank you very much and have a lovely Christmas!
